ISAE-ENSMA, the University of Poitiers and CNRS have teamed up to create Fédération PPRIMME, the Research Pole in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Energy Sciences of Poitiers, which specializes in the applications of research to air, space and ground transportation systems.
PPRIMME has three missions: to demonstrate the potential of its laboratories, to foster collaboration among its founding members and to enable a common usage of the capital research equipment of PPRIMME partners. The number of joint venture programs between PPRIMME and national and international corporations is significantly high.
Six laboratories are grouped in PPRIMME: – the LCD laboratory (specialty: combustion and detonation science), the LEA (aerodynamics), the LET (heat transfers), the LMPM (mechanics and materials science), the LMP (metallurgy), the LMS (solid mechanics) and the CEAT research center which provides the compressed air installations. CEAT is a partner of ENSMA, being affiliated to ENSMA’s research laboratories. It plays a significant role in ENSMA’s expert training in supersonic aerodynamics.
The number of partnerships with corporations, both at national and international levels, is quite significant. The Laboratory of Computer Science and Automatic Control for Systems, created in January 2012, is the result from the merge of two laboratories: the Applied Computer Science Laboratory (LISI, EA 1232) and the Laboratory of Automation and Applied Computer Science (LAII, EA 1219).
The LIAS gathers 35 teachers/researchers from disciplines like automatic control, electrical engineering, and computer science.
Although the laboratory is anchored in the Communication Systems community for the fundamental aspects, the LIAS, through its applications, is naturally open to the engineering sciences either for the new modes of propulsion, energy management, water treatment, complex sytems modelling, or the optimisation of real-time systems. The complementarity of the automatic control, electrical engineering and computer science disciplines is an added value for the application processing, all related to engineering.
The LIAS is composed of three teams:
- data and models engineering
- embedded real-time systems
- automatic control & systems
The LIAS is a member and a partner of the research federation MIRES (labelled from the CNRS). MIRES (mathematics and interactions, images and numerical computer science, networks and security)is a federation of laboratories from the Poitou-Charentes PRES.
The laboratory has many national and international industrial collaborations. It takes part in the organisation of the technology transfer centre: the CRITT-Informatique.
