On 1 September, Roland Fortunier will succeed Francis Cottet as head of ISAE-ENSMA for a first five-year term.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Roland Fortunier, professor of universities, elected by the board of directors on June 10, will be appointed on September 1st and for five years director of the ISAE-ENSMA. <\/span>Its project is to strengthen the positioning of the School on its territory, in its region, and within an international ISAE group. <\/span>The School must be a reference for the training of high-level scientists capable of anticipating, meeting industrial and societal challenges, and innovating in a highly connected world context.<\/span><\/p>\n

It builds on ISAE-ENSMA’s DNA, academic and industrial partnerships in aeronautics, space, transport and energy, as well as solid fundamentals linked to a search for a e<\/span>xcellence and high-level training.<\/span><\/p>\n

The strategy and organization that stem from its ambition for the School revolve around five main axes:<\/span><\/p>\n

Develop the ISAE group and strengthen the positioning of ISAE-ENSMA in the region
\n<\/span>Developing “agreed” industrial partnerships
\n<\/span>Responding to major industrial and societal challenges
\n<\/span>Develop the “Training – Research” offer, respecting the fundamentals
\n<\/span>Continue the process of continuous improvement by focusing on concerted action<\/span><\/p>\n

“Thinking about technological, economic, societal and human developments, and thus training the scientist of tomorrow as an actor in these evolutions, must be the driving force behind our decisions”. <\/span>As such, a “FuturoLab” could be created at Futuroscope, on the site of the School in Poitiers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roland Fortunier in brief …<\/strong>\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Aged 56, Civil Engineer of the Mines (E80), doctor of materials sciences, Roland Fortunier carried out research abroad, in Germany and in Canada, then in major industrial groups of the nuclear and the steel industry <\/span>, Before joining the world of higher education.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was appointed Professor of the Ecole des Mines in Albi-Carmaux (France) in 1995. He set up a training option and a research laboratory in the field of tooling before joining the Ecole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Mines in St-Etienne <\/span>He is actively involved in the creation and development of the Center Microelectronique de Provence in Gardanne (13). <\/span>He then headed the training and research center in St-Etienne (42) devoted to materials and mechanics. <\/span>Since 2010, he is director of the National School of Engineers of Saint-Etienne. <\/span>He was renewed in his duties in 2015, when he was appointed as a university professor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chevalier in the national order of the legion of honor and in that of the academic palms, Roland Fortunier is currently president of the International Center for Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development (CIRIDD).<\/span><\/p>\n

ISAE-ENSMA in brief …<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

ISAE-ENSMA is a public engineering school created in 1948, which has built a solid reputation with the training of 6000 high-level engineers and internationally renowned research through partnerships w<\/span>ith large companies that also recruit a large proportion of young graduates.<\/span><\/p>\n

The training of engineers in 3 years (from bac + 2) allows the graduates to orient themselves towards the functions typical consulting firms, research and development, mainly in the sectors of aeronautics and space <\/span>, Transport and energy. <\/span>Research and Teaching are closely interwoven with themes centered around the four main axes of ENSMA training – aerodynamics and mechanics of fluids, energy and heat transfer, materials and structures, computer science for mechanics and design – and through o<\/span>f the two laboratories of the school, PPRIME and LIAS.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2011, ENSMA reached a milestone by adopting the ISAE brand and adopting the ISAE-ENSMA name. <\/span>In 2017, it changed from EPA to EPSCP.<\/span><\/p>\n
